AP Calculus AB - Summer Work 2025 - Friendly Reminder Summer Work will be evaluated by QUIZ ONLY, and delta math work will be collected for homework grades :-)

Please note that all dates listed here are for SELF PACING - and recommended dates of completion so you do not have to cram or squeeze a summer's worth of learning into a few days before school starts.
June 15, 2025 - Your first assignment will be to get into the remind group for summer. Text to 81010 the code @fc2aa4, next assignment will post tomorrow June 16, 2025. I will be using Ti-84+ CE caclulator in class it is probably a good time to find deals on these in your local stores (I will also have a class set), you can check out my calculator link for ideas on where you can find deals. I will NOT be instructing with the TI-Inspire, this calculator's use and integration into the class will be on your own, please take note of this. See you tomorrow (virtually)!
June 16, 2025 - Summer Assignment#2 - Please get registered in Delta Math. The website is www.deltamath.com and your link for your course is AP Calculus AB summer 2025, there is an assignment posted today. Once registered all your online problem work will be posted here and there are videos you can watch to provide intervention and remediation, and the work is graded by the actual platform with detailed solutions provided for problems not done correctly.
June 22, 2025 - review over the unit circle then answer the questions after the math is fun tutorial at the bottom of the page. We are going to have you review parent function library beginnning with quadratic transformations then you will progress to library of functions, download his pdf handout of functions. I want you to focus on set builder notation along with interval notation. Review set builder notation. We meet again Sunday, June 29, 2025.
June 29, 2025- Piecewise Functions - Check out this math is fun page (note I do not like how they describe set builder notation, since the set it belongs to should always come after the description of what each x or y should be in domain or range). The "floor function" is simply a step function. Professor Ed Berger shows you how to graph piecewise functions with simplicity he has another simple explananation More graphing piecewise. Determining how to define domain and range from a graph Determining a piecewise function from a graph. Continuity with piecewise functions (note video not the best quality but it hits the concept home) More on continuity and discontinuity from piecewise(kind of silly and sound is sort of bad - sorry. Note Asymptotic is also infinite discontinuity). Try this worksheet. I really want you to be comfortable with piecewise functions since they will appear readily in calculus AB. Have a great day - see you Wednesday - July 2, 2025 :-)
July 2, 2025 - Verifying Trigonometric Identities: Do the problems: 1-8 on the accompanying page. Please remember that if you work left to right stay on the left side until the identity is transformed to the rightmost simplified value. The reverse is true if working from right to left. Solutions are on the last pages of this pdf for you to check your work. Another helpful link on style that I like. An "identity helper" but i am not endorsing the style just if you get stuck here is a useful link. New Verifying Identity problems set 1. New verifying identity problems set 2. Solutions to work new verifying identities set 2., Solutions to 1-11 from new verifying identities problems set 1 ,you guys can finish 12 - 16 on your own for next time. See you Sunday July 6, 2022.
July 6, 2025 - Summer Assignment#4 - Please go in to www.deltamath.com and complete the posted assignment for July 6, 2025, Rational Expressions. Next assignment will post on sometime on Friday, July 11, 2025. Hope you had a happy 4th of July :-)
July 11, 2025 - Summer Assignment#5 - Introduction to Calculus - we introduce the limit. After reviewing these notes you can take a look at evaluating a limit and the problems assigned. Monday, July 13, 2025 - we chat again (I will post some detailed even answers to questions)! (Also please note that in the body of the assignment the precalculus book mentioned is the Larson Precalculus book that says "Old Link" Precalc book - see textbook links on this page - it has every chapter in PDF along with odd answers, and all PDFs are downloadable)
July 13, 2025 - Summer Assignment#6 - Some even solutions to problem set from July 11, 2025. Today Limits by factoring video clip 1, and Limits by factoring clip 2 and additional substitution practice problems and limits by factoring practice - See you Friday, July 18, 2025 (note all references made here for textbook are the precalculus book from my textbook links which is a free download). Please note that in one of these clips a mis-reference to indeterminate form was stated (indeterminate form is "0/0" and undefined is "k/0" where k is not equal to 0 and k is an element of the Reals).
July 18, 2025 - Summer Assignment#7 - Limits by rationalizing or using trig rules as well as complex fractions and trig identity simplification - clip 1 - problem 18, clip 2 problem 22, clip 3 problem 24 and practice problems 17 -27 odd (note problem 26 can only be shown through graphing since it will not resolve algebraically) more on limits Monday. I will show graphing technique on problem 26. We will also look at one sided limits next Monday - July 21, 2025.
July 21, 2025 - Summer Assignment#8 - absolute value functions and one sided limits - abs value functions, one sided limits clip 1, one sided limits clip 2, one sided limits clip 3, one sided limits clip 4, abs value doc, DO page 799 problems 53-60 odd - see you Monday - July 28, 2025 (note correction in clip 3, the correct term for dividing anything by zero is UNDEFINED NOT indeterminate form)
July 28, 2025 - Summer Assignment#9 - 1.4 Limits and Continuity notes and practice problems. Solutions will be posted by Wednesday. Note that the definition of continuity here uses the limiting process to define continuity. Please note the first two problems talk about differentiability (we will discuss this in chapter 2) so dont be concerned about that, and also note that you can only reason with what you know at this point. Also try additionally these practice problems #1 and #6. Let these challenge you until Friday :-)
August 1, 2025 - Summer Assignment#10 - Review of Logarithms and Exponential Functions -Please go in to www.deltamath.com and complete Summer Assignment#10, Exponential and Logarithmic Review. Next assignment will post on Monday Aug 4, 2025 by end of the day :-)
Aug 4, 2025 - Solutions to practice problems on 1.4 notes. I will be posting some solutions to the additional practice problems Friday. See you Friday - Aug 8, 2025!
Aug 8, 2025 - solutions to problems 2 and 6 on additional practice problems and problems 8 and 10 and 12 and problems 14 and 16 - see you Sunday, August 10, 2025.
August 10, 2025 - more practice problems limits and continuity. and from last session Solutions to problem#18, solution problem#20, solution problem#22 and solution problem#24 and 26 and solution#28 and #38 and #40 - See you Wednesday - August 13, 2025.
